Klink reg vir my!

Elke dag is daar 'n "issue" oor iemand of iets. Dit maak my sommer gatvol. Angry

I didn't like the BMW bashing on WD.  It didn't affect me personally because it was aimed at 1200GS 'Lifestyle' members.  What I don't like is it is not teasing, it is criticism of the person (or of him by association through his bike).  As I see it a forum is a place for friends to interact.  That bashing is not friends interacting, it is strangers atacking each other.  I don't like that behaviour.  If it happened at my house (a conversation as per the bashing threads) I would think twice before having those people around again - I simply don't need that BS at my home.  If I was a regular at a pub - Doodles say - & the group I knew there behaved like that I would cease going.  It just takes a few to spoil it for the rest.

I have been to other sites with a very antagonistic bunch of posts & immediately decided it was not for me & never went back.  WD was terrific when I first found it but not so much anymore.

The US VFR forum is good.  One of the regular posters was attacked by some fairly newcomer.  The old poster replied "This is a forum for mutual benefit and assistance & I post in that spirit.  What you posted is not in that spirit."  It was true & the mods there seem to be able to keep it like that.

While chatting with Yellowfever, Surf, Slainche and Eisbein today I realized that I know quite a few big GS riders. Either and all of them are great guys. I posted this on WD as well. I tried to think of one, just one, that fit the mold, the Stereotype. Not one. That's quite remarkable.

Yellowfewer's got the right idea I think:

In the beginning WD was about Bikes, Rides and Destinations. That was nice. These days there is a lot of issues and less biking.

I would like this forum to be about the outdoors, sharing advise, planning rides, info on destinations and friends chatting. The WIKI was a GREAT idea and will go a long way in achieving this goal.

Tok-tokkie - I think you just nailed what I wanted to say but couldn't find the right words for.

Huge difference between teasing and criticizing.

TR - the Wiki is going to be supplemented by the forum.
Can't have 'banter' on the Wiki, so the 'building replationships' part will be on the forum and the 'useful info' bit will be on the Wiki...

I'll post the last testing instructions hopefully tonight.
