Can we discuss creating a Wiki of information about places we ride to & things we see?
I don't know if it is possible to create a wiki on a blog like this. Trailrider may not want one here & possibly WD would be a more suitable place. What have you guys have to say about it.
Trip reports are great but they become very unwieldy after a time & it is a lot of work to look up information in them later. For example: where to stay in Sutherland? Which ride report gave information about that. My thoughts are a Wiki where we can all contribute info about places & things so we slowly create a database of useful info without the superfluous comments and creative writing. Each entry dated & credited to poster so we can flame them for misleading info (in jest).
EDIT: A wiki allows anyone to ADD to an existing entry

I like the idea.
Let me try and see what it entails to get a Wiki up and running.
Never done that before, but then before August last year I've also never got a forum up and running...
Come to think about it - I really think its a good idea. Concise and hopefully accurate info - easy to navigate and find.
Hmmmm
I'll get back to you.

Ralph, check this out if you have time please ? http://www.siteground.com/compare_best_wiki.htmI am busy downloading MediaWiki (the software that WikiPedia was started on), but DokuWiki looks interesting too. They say its been more geared towards documentation - and that might just be more about what you are after. The middle one (TikiWiki) looks like its the swiss army knife of Wiki's - might end up being too cumbersome. I'll see if I can get MediaWiki and DocuWiki up and running and then we can start playing around...

Dis die vraag... Jy moet eers vir jouself 'n user create (regs bo) en van daaraf rondploeter ... Het jy gesien hoe die n-track een lyk ?
