At my previous place of employment, there was a chap who had lost the use/feeling in his arm after a car accident. One morning he was leaning with his hand on the stove while waiting for the water in the kettle to boil. Unfortunately the stove was on. One of those with the spiral element. It was only when he smelt his own flesh burning that he realised the plate was on. Even after the blisters healed, you could clearly see the spiral on his hand.
