As ek gaan swem en ek wil uit kom, wat moet ek doen om te keer dat die skare op die strand my weer wil in rol?

En as ek nie kan uit kom nie, is dit waar dat die stroom my elders verder af op die strand weer sal uitgooi? Big Grin

Dis totaal onwaar. Die stroom vat jou dieper in waar jy of deur witdoodhaai gevreet word of deur 'n pragtige meermin gered word. Die ander opsie is om te verdrink.

Ek het nog nooit van die see gehou nie. Ons het nooit see toe gegaan nie. Maar nou is dit asof ons 'n nuwe plek ontdek het. Big Grin Ons loop en verkyk ons soos Walies. Evil

Swim parallel to the beach until you find that the current is no longer dragging you out to sea.
Swim in towards the beach at an angle away from the rip current.  It is longer but will ensure that the rip current does not pull you out to sea again.
or at least that is how I remember it as a nipper.

Laat weet my voor jy gaan swem dan plaas ek al die nodige mense op bystand vir n see rescue, NSRI ens Big Grin Big Grin

Die see strome hier teen ons kus is maar redelik onvoorspelbaar en jy moet onthou dat die laaste haai aanval ook by Glentana plaasgevind het.

On KFM this morning they said as many as 5 Great Whites were spotted along the False Bay coastline at any given time.

CT bathers warned of increased shark activity
Chantall Presence | 10 Hours Ago

Cape Town authorities on Tuesday warned bathers to be wary of increased shark activity in the False Bay coast. Shark spotters have had sightings of great whites in Muizenberg, Fish Hoek and Clovelly.

City Coastal Coordinator Sakhile Tsotsobe said they have gone from sighting one shark a day last week, to five at any given time near various beaches.

“There has been quite a sharp increase over a short period of time and we think that is related biological activity in the bay,” he said.

Tsotsobe cautioned bathers to look out for the white flag.

Every time there is a shark within an area which warrants clearing the beach, the white flag will be raised,” he added.

I would think it would be better to clear the water.  Evil Evil
